Micha | Account Manager
In this position, I am responsible for customer management and the expansion of our foreign portfolio. It is my job to maintain customer contact and build up contact with potential foreign customers. We concentrate primarily on greenhouse builders and screen installers. We aim to focus on a few specific countries in the coming years, and it’s my job to ensure that we grow our market share there. It makes a nice challenge!
My day consists primarily of maintaining customer contact (physically, by telephone or e-mail), sending out quotations and following them up. In addition, I get to travel abroad regularly to visit potential and existing customers. I also attend a range of trade fairs related to the horticultural sector locally and abroad.
We recently won a huge screen installation project in Mexico. This is a market we have been focussing on for several years with a system that was specially designed for poly greenhouses, which are common there. It took a long time to get there and we invested a lot of time in the search. Having finally secured the deal is a great achievement for us and hopefully the start of many more nice projects!
One of the best aspects of my job is coming into contact with many different cultures. There have been days when I telephoned in the morning with a Japanese greenhouse builder, welcomed visiting Turkish customers in the afternoon and finished the day with a Teams call with a Mexican customer. And of course business travel abroad is a fantastic part of my job.
What attracts me the most is that Van der Valk Systemen is still a real family-run business. The working atmosphere is very pleasant, with an emphasis on people, something I find very appealing. The industry we operate in is an interesting one with enough promising challenges and opportunities globally for the coming years. Van der Valk Systemen also stands for innovation. We are continuously looking to improve the products and systems we offer, to remain pioneers in our market.
The predominant work atmosphere in particular (the family feeling) is very refreshing. My colleagues are another major reason that I enjoy working here. The contact with the customers and suppliers is also very pleasant, it gives me energy. Finally, it appeals to me that Van der Valk Systemen is pioneering over all parts of the company and is always searching for what could be better. This keeps us in a leadership position in the market, and Van der Valk Systemen remains the great company that it is today!
