Sustainability

At Van der Valk Horti Systems, we believe that sustainability goes beyond simply supplying high-quality air-handling and shading systems for Venlo and polytunnels.  We take a critical look at our business processes, the value chain and the life cycle of our products. From the design and origin of raw materials, through production and transport, to use and opportunities for circularity and reuse.

Thanks to an ever-improving understanding of the underlying data, we can make choices that have a real impact. This is an ongoing process, in which we continually set new targets to drive further improvement. This can be achieved, for example, by opting for more sustainable materials, smarter designs and collaboration with partners in our supply chain.

In this way, we are not only contributing to the energy transition, but also to a sustainable business model that is ready for the future!

Our approach

For us, sustainability is an integral part of our business operations. We focus on a number of key themes:

Choice of materials

The choice of materials has a major impact on the environmental footprint of our products. That is why we mainly opt for metal, due to its long service life and reliable mechanical joints.

From design to delivery

By making smart choices during the design phase, we can already significantly improve a product’s sustainability. In doing so, we consider the entire life cycle, not just the use phase. Smart engineering contributes to more efficient use of materials, lower energy consumption and reduced transport volumes.

Certificates and assessments

To underpin our story and achievements in the field of sustainability, we are pleased to share the certificates and assessments from independent bodies.

  • ISO 14001: Since 2020, we have had an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system in place, which enables us to systematically improve our environmental performance. We review the results annually and set new targets.
  • EcoVadis: Since 2019, we have been assessed annually by EcoVadis on various ESG themes. In 2026, we were awarded a gold medal, placing us among the top 5% of companies assessed worldwide.

Continuous improvement

Becoming more sustainable is an ongoing process. New technologies, materials and partnerships constantly offer opportunities to further reduce our impact. That is why we continue to invest in innovation, transparency and the development of even more sustainable solutions.

In this way, we are working together with our customers, suppliers and partners to build a sustainable future.
