Since January 1, 2011, Gert van Staalduinen has been part of the Van der Valk Horti Systems team as a Project Engineer. At first, he worked for both Horti and Solar, but after the split he deliberately chose Horti. “Here I work with different systems and can really put my knowledge to use. The technical aspect of the horticultural sector makes my job challenging and very rewarding.”
In his role, Gert is involved in creating project drawings, developing clear technical manuals in an IKEA-style format, and managing as well as developing internal and external software, including the ValkHortiPlanner.
“What appeals to me is the variety in my work,” Gert explains. “One day I’m working on technical drawings and solving complex problems, and the next I’m improving our software tools. That mix of technology and innovation makes the job exciting. The best part is that I can truly contribute with my knowledge and experience.”
A recent milestone Gert is proud of is the further development of the ValkHortiPlanner. “It’s great to see how this software increasingly meets our own needs as well as those of customers and the market. It allows users to calculate projects more easily and quickly.”
As a native of the Westland area, the horticultural sector perfectly matches his interests. “I enjoy working in this sector because of its technical character. There are always challenges, and that keeps me motivated. It’s satisfying to contribute with knowledge and expertise to innovative solutions within Van der Valk Horti Systems.”
For Gert, the pleasant and open atmosphere makes working here extra enjoyable. The variety in his tasks and the opportunity to apply his knowledge add to that. “And not to forget: the biennial skiing trip is absolutely fantastic! It’s a great way to get to know colleagues in a different setting and to meet people you don’t see every day.”
